Chapter 1 (July 8th 2009)Imagine what would happen if the space that a Burger King once occupied was run by Coastal Provisions with the great foods we are known for like crabcakes, sandwiches featuring house roasted meats on fresh baked bread, steamed shrimp & crab along with beer, wine and other quenchers. Well that's pretty much Coastal Cravings is - our version of a quick service restaurant.
The story goes like this...
We were supposed to take over Cravings Coffee Shop in Duck from our buddy Howard, a CPM regular since year one. Howard had the place for almost 20 years, a true Duck landmark, but was ready to have us run it for him. Long and short, we wanted to run it as more than a coffee shop, adding our great foods, but could not come to terms with the property owner on the improvements necessary to make that happen.
Just so happened that right next door attached to the Handee Hugo gas station was space where the Burger King once occupied with the only drive-thru in Duck. By strange town ordinance the drive-thru needed to be reopened in less than a month from our first encounter there, or it would go away forever. Well the space was fairly turn key, and we were able to open Coastal Cravings in a matter of three weeks. So now you can enjoy a great menu of Coastal Provisions fare including breakfast and Howard's original Cravings coffee, served up by the man himself!
Chapter 2 (present) Sign a long term lease and build a cool bar and restaurant. The lease worked out great as Handee Hugo was looking to sign a new long term lease also. The building of our new restaurant concept was a little more complicated, we had little money and our fast food concept needed a Food Network style makeover. What we got was, five crazy weeks of a self make over: 1st We bought some killer booths over ebay which defined our new color palette, and as we did with table 2 we embraced wierd and went with the flow. 2nd, we painted the entire place includung the celing and build a very unique bar. 3rd, we opened our 40 seat steak and seafood restuarant in April and just when we thought things couldn't get any better, Thursday July 19th, Guy Fieri and friends from DDD showed up on our little patio for Dinner the rest is history. If you get a chance check out our show "Far Out" on the Food Newtorks hit TV show Diners Drive-Ins, and Dives. It airs on Christmas Eve at 10 pm.
